Selina Thompson
SALT.
On tour (2017) & Edinburgh Fringe 2017 (Northern Stage at Summerhall)
SM Publicity has a longstanding relationship with Selina Thompson, having worked on her show Dark and Lovely in 2015. Press coverage for Dark and Lovely included features in the Independent, British Blacklist and Exeunt.
Following this, we handled PR for the first outings of Selina's new show, salt., which included performances at both Bristol Mayfest and the Yorkshire Festival before its Edinburgh Fringe run as part of Northern Stage at Summerhall. salt. focuses on Selina's epic journey across the Atlantic on a cargo ship re- tracing a Transatlantic Slave Triangle route, weaving in themes of grief, home, afro-pessimism, the Black Atlantic and the forgetting of the UK’s colonial history.
salt. was one of the must sees of the fringe, enjoying a solid sold out run and four and five stars from a range of critics including The Guardian, Financial Times and The Times. Selina very deservedly won the inaugural Filipa Braganca Award and a Stage Edinburgh Award.
